WEEK SIX 9/23 HANDOUTS:

Today we will be talking about “The Design Process.” Here is the handout for this subject:

The Design Process

Another handout will be provide in class identifying what the homework assignment will be for the next two weeks. This assignment is an Initials Logo project, and the handout (provided in class) will illustrate exactly what the requirements are.

WEEK SEVEN - 9/30/2005:

Today we will be reviewing “The Design Process.”

The first stage of the Initials Logo Assignment is due: thumbnail sketches and rough comps/mock-ups. The second stage of this assignment will be due next week (10/7/05), when you will turn in the finished project, complete with tight comps and the finished layout. Remember, TEST TODAY on Typography!

 

WEEK EIGHT- 10/7/2005:

No handouts today!

We will be going over the results of the Typography Test and finishing up the Initials Logo Project today. Also, we will be having a quick overview of Chapter Three (Selecting & Arranging) and Four (Basic Shapes) from the textbook. Your homework for next week will be to complete the exercise from Chapter Three (Selecting & Arranging) and put it into your Finished Work folder for grading. Chapter Four is assigned as well, but no homework is due from this chapter (just have fun playing with the shapes).

 

WEEK NINE- 10/14/2005:

A handout will be provided in class about Logo Design - this is also a page on the website.

Today we will be sharing and critiquing the Initials Logo Project designs so be prepared to share yours. In conjunction with this, we will be reviewing an article on Logo Design, as part of the review for the Initials Logo Project, and also as a good stepping stone for those planning to do a logo for their Final Project.

Next we will be having a lecture on Chapter Five: Fills, Strokes & Colors. Lab today will be finishing up the work for Chapter Three if you haven't finished and beginning the exercise for Chapter Five.

An extra credit assignment will be offered today for those who want extra points, want more work to do, or just want to have more fun!

 

WEEK TEN - 10/21/2005

The homework from last week is extended to this week! You have an extra week to complete the exercise for Chapter Five. Today we will be continuing to learn more about drawing in Illustrator by introducing the Brush tool. There will be a simple exercise due next week utilizing this fabulous tool, for which a handout will be provided in class.

WEEK THIRTEEN - 11/18/2005

So now you have learned how to create beautiful artwork in Illustrator - congratulations! Of course, you want to learn how to print out your beautiful artwork and that's not always as easy as selecting "File - Print!" Illustrator has powerful tools for printing your documents in a variety of ways. We will be focusing on general rules for printing from your own desktop and how to get your documents ready to send off to a commercial printer.

There will be a homework assignment that will be due in two weeks (12/2/05) involving obtaining three print quotes for one job. Here are the two handouts for today:
