The Mendocino College Culinary Arts
Management Program prepares
students for careers as chefs, restaurant
managers, or caterers.

The philosophy of Chef Jennifer Schmitt,
creator of Ravenous in Healdsburg, is to
create dishes that use local organic foods
as a way to highlight the region and
increase tourism to the area.

Students participate in special events
during the semester, such as the Culinary
Arts Day at Fetzer Vineyards in Hopland,
to polish their cooking and serving skills
and learn about the food service business
from local entrepreneurs.

For example, Chefs John Ash and
Bridget Harrington from Fetzer
and Zach Schat, owner of the
Schat’s bakery and restaurants, have
shared their expertise and experience
with students.

As part of Mendocino College, the
Culinary Arts Management Program
enjoys the support of the agriculture
department, which supplies fresh
produce throughout the year.

Students can also take advantage of
classes in nutrition, business and
wine tasting as they prepare to enter
the workforce.
